Blackwater, NLEX duel in D-League

Source | mb.com | A shorthanded NLEX tries to notch its second straight win when it battles the dangerous Blackwater Elite Monday in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the Trinity University gym in Quezon City.

The Road Warriors, toting a 2-1 record, will miss six players due to injuries and collegiate commitments when they meet the Elite (3-2) in the curtain raiser at 2 p.m.

Boracay Rum (3-2) aims to gain at least the fourth spot in the standings when it battles upset-minded DUB Unlimited in the other game at 4 p.m.

Coach Boyet Fernandez is hoping that NLEX will overcome the absence of San Sebstian’s Calvin Abueva, Ronald Pascual and Ian Sangalang, San Beda’s Dave Marcelo and Ateneo Emman Monfort who will suit up for their respective schools in the semis of the PCCL.

RR Garcia, Cliff Hodge and Chris Ellis will have to double their effort if they want to prevail over the team owned by long-time PBL chairman Dioceldo Sy.

Meanwhile, PBA commissioner Chito Salud suspended Jewel Ponferrada of Big Chill for one game after committing a Flagrant Foul Penalty 2 in the Superchargers' 70-46 loss to Freego on Thursday.
