De La Hoya: Arum lying about Pacquiao-Floyd fight

Source | abs-cbnnews.com | Golden Boy Promotions (GBP) President Oscar de la Hoya is claiming that Top Rank chief executive officer Bob Arum is lying to the public regarding the ongoing negotiations for a Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather mega-fight.

In his Twitter account, De La Hoya lambasted Arum for feeding lies to the public through the media. "Bob Arum, please please stop lying to the public. Sit down with my CEO Richard (Schaefer) and make the big fight happen. Before Manny asks questions," De La Hoya said.

He also questioned Arum's statement that the Top Rank chief was talking to investors interested in making the mega-fight happen.

"Hahaha Bob Arum is saying there are a bunch of investors he's talking to try and make PAC vs mayweather. I can't stop laughing," De La Hoya said. De La Hoya emphasized that Arum needs to call his CEO, Schaefer, in order to get the ball rolling for the mega-fight.

"Mayweather wants the fight, Bob has to do is call Richard," he said to Kevin Iole, Yahoo! Sports reporter. "Bottom line is, Mayweather wants Pacquiao, what's the hold up? Bob," De La Hoya added.

Mayweather not exclusive to Golden Boy

However, Golden Boy does not necessarily have to be involved in the negotiations for a Pacquiao-Mayweather fight. Mayweather is not under contract with Golden Boy, but the fighter hires the company to help co-promote his fights. According to Bad Left Hook, "(Mayweather) has no deal with them and no obligation to involve them in this fight."

Arum has said GBP's Schaefer is "on the outside looking in" when it comes to the negotiations for the fight. De La Hoya says Arum is not only blocking the Pacquiao-Mayweather mega-fight, he is also preventing Top Rank boxers from fighting Golden Boy boxers.

"Let's do it!!!!! Golden boy fighters vs top rank fighters. Ohhh sorry bob won't do it," De La Hoya said.
