The Fil-Am wrestler had successful year in UFC, pulling off sensational wins over CD Dollaway and former title contenders Demian Maia and Chris Leben.
He will next face fellow wrestler Chael Sonnen for the right to challenge middleweight champion Anderson Silva.
The Muñoz-Sonnen fight will be co-featured in UFC on FOX II on January 28 at the United Center in Chicago.
