Source | abs-cbnNEWS.com | MANILA, Philippines – The third installment of the Manny Pacquiao-Juan Manuel Marquez clash may have generated around 1.4 million pay-per-view (PPV) buys, according to Top Rank Inc.
Top Rank president Todd duBoef said in Boxingscene.com that the recent fight may actually be Pacquiao’s biggest PPV record.
"I don't have the exact number, but I can tell you that it's the best pay-per-view that Manny has had in his history. We are talking about [a number] that exceeds 1.3 million homes. We are hoping for it to be 1.4 million homes,” he said.
DuBoef said Marquez’s fan base in Mexico helped boost the PPV sales.
“Obviously [the fight] was greatly influenced by Juan Manuel Marquez because we understand that Latinos have a strong base in the United States and they buy the fights," he said.
The fight saw Pacquiao edge Marquez by majority decision. The result was seen by many in the boxing community as controversial.
