Ponce de Leon: I'll fight Boom Boom for a title

MANILA, Philippines – Mexican boxer Daniel Ponce de Leon is willing to give Philippine featherweight Rey “Boom Boom” Bautista a rematch on one condition.

“If it was for a meaningful title, I would give him a rematch," he told Examiner.com’s Dennis “dSource” Guillermo.

Ponce de Leon knocked out Bautista in just 1 round during their WBO super bantamweight title clash in 2007.

That was Bautista’s first loss as a professional boxer.

"Rey Bautista is a good fighter and I wish him luck. There isn't much to say about the fight since it only lasted one round. But it was a good win for me at the time."

Bautista is preparing to defend his IBF International Featherweight title against Mexican knockout artist Miguel Angel Mendoza this Saturday.

The fight will be the main event of Pinoy Pride X, which takes place at the Hoops Dome, Lapu-Lapu City.

Bautista was promised the rematch against to Ponce de Leon if he wins his match on Saturday.
